Gratitude

Fall is near the corner, and I cannot help but feel the excitement for fall: decorations, family time, and football. Every so often, I like to look back and see how far my family and I have come and overcome, and I can\’t help but feel thankful for every blessing we have been given and every challenge we have been tested on.

Joe is more of an old, wise soul with notes of youthfulness. He likes to remind me of the importance of appreciating the good, looking at the not-so-great times, being appreciative of the lessons learned, and, most importantly learning to carry on with those lessons so we don\’t repeat the same mistakes.

Sometime a few weeks ago, he was giving me my quarterly dose of wisdom and much-needed tough love. I must be frank: sometimes, I struggle with anxiety and overthink everything, even the most minor things. He mentioned many things, but the one that stuck was to start a gratitude journal to help me remember the good during those moments.

I have had this little gem on my Amazon wish list, yet it never seemed necessary before that day: The five-minute journal.
